Shining Stars

A defining feature of any star, whether it be in the sky or on the sidewalks of Hollywood, is that it can be spotted from far away. That was the goal when Claus Simonsen, the famous Danish designer and architect, sat down to design the two Star tables. To create an instantly recognizable shape that could be spotted (and admired) from far away.

And the Star tables certainly can. The star of the two Stars is the magnificent and ever commanding tabletop. Whether it’s round or square, in Spanish marble or Scandinavian oak, it gives off a unique presence in any room – board or dining – that upgrades anything it gets to be in the center of.

The two Star tables come in a wide variety of different sizes and finishes, none of which look anything short of beautiful. It’s designed to fit in any situation, and built so it can last enough to see most of them.

Claus Simonsen

For Danish architect and designer Claus Simonsen, great design fuses function, beauty and durability. Claus compares furniture design to jazz music. Both disciplines require an attentive mindset and an eye for balance. Between proportions and shape, function and feelings. Design is not about being the best, it is about being good – being generous.

Star

The round Star table is the most prominent of the two shapes. The perfectly circular table top really allows whatever material you choose to stand out. For instance, it’s impossible not to gaze on the way the black, Spanish marble can be worked into such an effortless circle – and the same goes for all the other non-stone varieties.

The base is made to be as sturdy as possible to support whatever heavy table top is on top of it. The four elegant metal legs share the lifting, and all look good doing it. Every part of the base has been optimized to reach the perfect compromise between form and function.

Whilst the round Star table won’t look out of place at even the most international board meetings, the look and feel of the design really is truly Scandinavian. The super solid materials and the (even more) solid four legged base make a simple, contrasting construction that’ll easily outlast any of your board’s members.
