ME chair

Marco Evaristti

Be the designer.

Functional Art

ME stands for Marco Evaristti, the man come artist who drew up one of our now most recognized and applauded design families, the ME Family. Evaristti is artistic to the bone. Everything he does echoes into the zeitgeist, including his work for Askman.

One of non-artsy-fartsy people’s biggest criticism of those who claim to understand art, is whether it serves a functional purpose. Whether what everybody can speak seemingly never ending monologues about actually provides value to the world.

The ME Family aims to do just that. The beautiful design principles reeks of the thoughts only an artist like Evaristti could think, all whilst being actually functional. All whilst being… chairs.

Marco Evaristti

Marco forces the spectator to look at life’s sometimes obscure and absurd paradoxes, and his artworks often revolve around taboos, such as death. Death is the only certainty we have in life and it reminds us to always live life to the fullest. When carefully constructed, design and art objects are able to outlive us and be passed down from generation to generation. With this in mind, Marco succeeds in designing furniture that crosses the gap between art and function.

ME Chair

Marco Evaristti is an artist. He’s also the man behind ME, our maybe most unique dining chair silhouette. Being an artist, Evaristti has countless controversial exhibitions behind him, each pushing the conversation to new frontiers, and each exposing our desires and desires not to confront those desires.

“That’s all good and well, but what does it matter when I’m shopping for a chair?” Well, to be honest, it doesn’t. This chair isn’t a provocative art piece, rather it’s an attempt at confronting what we believe a dining chair to be. It’s an attempt at pushing Scandinavian design to its borders and an attempt to build a rock solid physical manifestation of what is often lofty, artistic thoughts.

And it’s a successful attempt. The ME chair has been a proud part of our collection for years, and will work well as a functional art piece wherever you decide to utilise it. ME comes in a variety of different finishes, each with their own unique characteristics, each with their own way of influencing a room.
