Unnaturally Natural

Iron and wood. It’s nature’s most popular and maybe most unnatural combination. The two materials are rarely found within a thousand mile radius of each other, yet they’ve made up a striking partnership every time thousands of designers have chosen to put the two together.

At least that was the thinking when Per Aagard Jepsen, the Danish designer behind the Avanti Family, sat down to create what is now two Scandinavian design classics. The star of the show here isn’t the designs themselves, because, in true Sacandi fashion, there’s not much to it. The star is the materials that make the design and the solidity with which they’re put together.

The Avanti Family consists of the Avanti Chair and the Avanti Bar Stool, both of which stay true to the Per Aargards insistence on letting just two materials speak more than many ever could.

When Per Aagaard Jepsen designed the AVANTI and AVANTI BAR chairs, his intention was to create a chair with a light and modern expression. With its simple style and clean lines, the chair is suitable for both public and private areas.

Avanti bar

Avanti Bar is the distilled version of a truly unique and beautiful design. Being the taller little brother of the regular Avanti Chair, this is the same hardcore Scandinavian design principles applied in more moderate, bar-friendly ways.

The real beauty of the Avanti Bar lies in its simplicity. The way the two materials come together to form something greater than their parts, and the way bent veneer can look so much more beautiful than the words “bent veneer” suggest they should be allowed to. The two pieces have been masterfully formed together to create a sturdy, beautiful bar stool that’ll last years and years to come.

You’ll have no trouble working in Avanti Bar in either work environments or environments where work is used as a conversation fall back. Both the base and the seat can be customized to fit anything except for the most decadent decors.
